Well, we can safely say that spring has sprung! Has anyone else heard more birds than usual? We’re loving seeing the little ones bobbing about in the garden.
Seeing the world come alive with colour made me want to share the second to last shoot I did before we went into lockdown. It was a relaxed, fun and colourful shoot with a few props thrown in - great way to spend the last week or so before lockdown.
This branding shoot was for Jessica Naish & Victoria Vaught, two very talented florists behind the hugely successful Girl Flower podcast. The podcast is aimed at industry professionals and has already proven to be a great resource for florists in lockdown; from light hearted chat to inspiration to practical business ideas. I’ve loved listening to it, even as a non-florist!
As well as the podcast, the two have been flourishing as florists too. They wanted some images that reflected their personalities, their business ethos and gave people a good impression – so we came up with a plan that meant we made the most of their skills in a spectacular setting.
The Setting
These girls are FULL of energy, you can hear it when you tune into their podcast and you can feel it when you meet them. We needed somewhere that matched the zest the pair bring, and I think we nailed it! The bold print of the walls adds depth to the images, you can see how they ‘pop’ against it, even though they are also wearing print. It’s a visual feast!
The Styling
Things don’t have to be overly complicated. We stuck with the most relevant props – flowers and microphones. Even without the girls in the pictures, you’d have some visual cues as to what it was all about – perfect for intro photos where someone absorbs keys details quickly.
The Staging
This was the easy part! Both women had such wonderful rapport it was easy to capture moments of energy and reflect their personalities.
Working with these two dynamic, brilliant women was inspiring. They manage individual businesses and create a thriving, entertaining and helpful podcast simultaneously – and that’s no mean feat. If Girl Flower isn’t representative of girl power, I don’t know what is!
